Re: Benford's Law - this is great

Not sure how well this theory applies to the real world. I run a simulation by creating 1.2 million random numbers in the range 1-99999 in excel and then analyzed the first digit (1-9) frequency. I ended up with about 11% for each digit, totally different than what Benford's law suggested. Am I doin...

Re: Going Beyond Scrum - White paper

Thanks TommyD. I first need to get comfortable with Agile/Scrum, before I move beyond it :-)

Re: Agile Triangle, what is it?

Thanks. I see the three areas that are being addressed by the triangle's points and it makes sense, but how/why is it always being used to demonstrate the differences between Waterfall and Agile? That's the part I'm having a hard time figuring out.

Agile Books - Suggestions?

Can anyone suggest some good books on Agile (and may be Scrum)? I have downloaded and reviewed a whole bunch of PDFs and find them useful, but I'm one of those people that likes the feel of a real book.

Agile - Avoiding glutony ??

I have also seen a lot of references to "avoiding glutony", when people are talking about the advantages to agile. Can anyone here shed some light?

Agile Triangle, what is it?

As I am reading more and more about Agile, I see a lot of references regarding the agile triangle. What is it and does it really help in planning projects in an agile manner?

Scrum without a PM ??

As we review the options available to us, Scrum seems to be the best Agile process we may want to go with. However, I have a big problem with the frequent mentions (in everything I read) that Scrum don't have a project manager. How can you see a project to completion with nobody being responsible fo...

Using Traditional Developers in Agile Projects?

O.K., as I mentioned earlier and after reading a bit on the different processes, I think I can ask some more specific questions. Here is one that comes to mind. Can we use traditional developers on Agile projects? If so, do they need significant re-training? And, what Agile process would it be easie...

Re: Waterfall or Scrum? And why?

When I asked what methodology to use, I didn't meat to start a long term argument. I appreciate all the information being posted here, but I am having a hard time deciphering as to what methodology we should be using. I've been reading on Agile and it seems to be a good methodology to use for "...

Re: Types of Agile?

There are probably many lists of what people consider Agile processes, on the web, and not everyone agrees, but here is *my* list. The (*1/2*) notation means that these processes are considered by some/many "Semi-Agile". Scrum Adaptive Software Development (ASD) Crystal Methods (Crystal C...

Waterfall or Scrum? And why?

Well, now that the admin created this new section, I get to re-ask the question. What methodology should we use as we are updating our old suite of products. Also, if whoever answers can give some reasons!!!

Thank you

Re: Possibly wrong subject - Software Development

BTW, I *just* sent a message to the moderator asking that they set-up a section for programming/software on this forum. You may also want to do the same, so we can convince them to do so!

Re: Possibly wrong subject - Software Development

I have seen and read all this "general" talks about agile, and I have been scouring the web to become a bit more informed about it. It really isn't all that pretty all the time. Since I have no direct experience with it, I rely on what others say... http://programmers.stackexchange.com/que...

Re: Possibly wrong subject - Software Development

Wow, I didn't mean to start a big controversy :-) I think it's silly because of what I've heard about it, I am not really familiar with it - you are right, I should not be so quick to opine. It just sounds to me like everything else these days, that we have to be warm and nice and play like a team a...
