Re: Do it Yourself Agile Book

Indeed a very useful book. I think the author hit it on the head early in his introduction, when he said: "But then, one day a funny thing happened. I inadvertently reached critical mass on Agile and I realized what had kept me from seeing the value of Agile up to that point. My objections were base...

How do you determine Waterfall or Agile ?

Sorry if this has already been addressed, I searched but could not find a topic.

I see that many PMs think Agile is great, but some projects may be more suitable for waterfall style PM. How does one determine what style a project is more suitable for? Is there a guide or something?

Re: Youtube PM training videos ??

Collabnet series is good and the Google TalksArchive, on youtube, has a lot of videos on Scrum. There is also a series by Mike Cohn, where you can even get 1 PDU, for each video you watch. I have to say, though, that most of them are at least a couple of years old. They do not post their latest ver...

Youtube PM training videos ??

I know there are lots of free youtube training videos for PM, but that's just the problem, there are LOTS of them and trying to decide if one of them is worth watching, or not, usually involves watching at least a few minutes of it. A few minutes each times hundreds of videos results in a big waste ...

Re: Typical Scrum Sprint Length?

Thanks, Paris K., it makes sense. It's just that I am hearing all these numbers and terms thrown about and as a newbie, I'm having a hard time distinguishing between a rule/standard and a preference. But, I am learning fast :-)

Is Agile = Scrum ??

The way I understand it, Agile is a general concept and there a number of Agile processes. However, 90% of the time people talk about Agile and Scrum as if the two terms are interchangeable. Isn't Scrum just *ONE* of the Agile processes? Why do people automatically thing Scrum, when they think Agile...

Typical Scrum Sprint Length?

As you can probably tell, I am very new at this and I have lots of questions. If some of these sound silly, please be lenient. BTW, before I ask them, I go through the posts to see if my questions have been answered. It's always possible that they already have and I missed the post, so if that's the...

Re: Software Architecture Styles Info ??

Thanks for the additional detail, WarrenT. So is this, second graphic you supplied a typical web application architecture diagram? In other words, is this the level of detail one would expect in such a diagram?

Re: Software Architecture Styles Info ??

NewAgile, there was probably more information accompanying the graphic. I think you are right, it seems really simplistic. But, then again, I am not a software architect either, so I am not certain what a software architect visual is supposed to look like.
