Re: Any shielding software?

I don't know that they have any such program or not, but why can't you get one from RSIC or some other government lab? I believe you can get them for free and they range in complexity and capabilities from the very simple to the real sophisticated. For example, since you are looking for gamma trans...

Re: Alternative/Green Energy

I know what it means, I was being coy because a lot of people and companies use the term lightly, simply to make themselves sound important and "cool". I guess the levity was lost in the translation :-( I understand, Johannes. However, I still haven't gotten an answer to my original question :-| Do...

Re: Energy Technology

Pleonat, unfortunately, I don't, but I'm sure you'll find more links if you google the appropriate keywords. We *all* have the same access to that ;-)

Re: What development language?

I don't think one has to spend the tons of money that MATLABS wants. Why? 99% of what it can do can be done by scilab which was developed in France and it is TOTALLY free. Download a copy and give it a try, you'll be surprised. And, this also is very appropriate, i.e., having this conversation in t...

Re: What development language?

@BillRotando: I don't think Algol is dead, but I guess it all depends on what you call dead. It definitely is not a language that is predominantly used, but I am sure there are people using it. For a complete list of languages and some info as to their status, you may take a quick look at the link I...

Re: What development language?

I know that in the old days, engineers used to use Fortran and Basic, 99% of the time, specially for developing complicated scientific program (I think Cobol was for business, but I am not sure). In any case, what is the preferred language nowdays? As I recall, 10+ years ago, everyone was raving ab...

Re: Any shielding software?

I guess you are right. I never dealt with that part of the process. When we needed a code, I just filled out the paperwork and gave it to our IT department, and then the code appeared, like magic ;-) Seriously, though, because I was never involved in the process, I always thought that since all thes...

Re: Energy Technology

Since I was searching on line, I got carried away... :-) I found a couple of other links to older nuclear work they have done. I'm sure there is more, but I've spent enough time on this. Here are the additional links: Proceedings of the CSNI Specialist Meeting on Nuclear Aerosols in Reactor Safety K...

Re: Energy Technology

Shulee, following up with my previous message, I found a link that might give you more information about the type of work they may be involved in. One of the co-authors of this study is a co-founder of trius and I worked with him, many years ago. I believe this was done for Electric Power Research I...

Re: Energy Technology

Well, it sounds like the person i had worked with is still with the company - that's pretty much what i remember him working in, primarily in nuclear shielding.

Re: Energy Technology

I am trying to find additional details about TRIUS involvement in Energy Technology, but haven't found much on the company's site. Does anyone know where I can find such info? ShuLee, I don't know what they are involved with nowadays, but many years ago I had worked with one of the co-founders in t...
