Re: New, small, self-contained nuclear plants

The big question is (and always will be), how much safer, if any, these systems are compared to (a) current nukes, (b) the new AP1000 designs and (c) other (larger) proposed SMRs.

And, with today's natural gas prices being so low and reserves being so high, will it make sense financially?

Nuclear Cover-Up Threatens Great Lakes Region

Can anyone comment on this? Is what they are saying correct? http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/08/20/nuclear-cover-up-threatens-great-lakes-region/ And here is one of the other documents referenced with links to the NRC documents obtained by FOIA. http://www.beyondnuclear.org/relicensing/2012/8/11/nr...

Re: Fukushime didn't stop nuclear growth

elen, that's smart language for saying, "I will discount any reports that agree with my point of view". Peer reviewed reports are reviewed by peers that usually have the same opinion on a subject. That's very different than *critically* reviewed reports that are usually reviewed by those who do not ...

Really? Well, I think it should have stopped it, until we know more about radiation and its effects and how to manage these accidents. Why don't you take a look at these recent reports?
