Vermont Yankee will shut down

Anone care to comment about Entergy's decision to shut own Vermont Yankee next year? After years of fighting to keep it open and making the state waste all sorts of money, they decided to call it unit? What's up with that?

Re: Risk Assessment in Light of Radiaiton

I read this and many similar studies and it all sounds so good, less than 0.1% that overall risk of death, such a low probability of the accident in the frst place, it sounds great. How about real life and real data points? How does he low calculated probability of the accident jive with what has al...

Re: Fukushima Apocalypse

I put more credence in the author of the report that I do in TEPCO and the Japanese government. They have done nothing but mislead the public, so far. No, I don't know how many fuel rods were damaged and to what extent. But, find one source (as pro-nuclear as you want) that says or has said that fue...

Re: Stop subsidizing nuclear!

I am not so sure I buy the gallop results. But, if you want to believe them, go right ahead. Answer what? There have been dozens of studies that estimate tens of thousands of deaths because of Fukushima and hundreds of thousands because of Chernobyl. Just search on-line. If I could find them, so can...

Re: Stop subsidizing nuclear!

I'd like to see the numbers that support your conclusions! I think that if what you say was true, at least in the USA, people would support Nuclear Power, like they do. Are you serious? USA public supports Nuclear? Whatever it is you are smoking, you should cut down ;-) USA public is against nuclea...

Stop subsidizing nuclear!

I ve voiced my opinion before. Seeing the reckless behavior of TAPCO at Fukushima reminded me that we (government) should stop subsidizing nuclear power to make it look economically attractive. Let it survive on is own and if it can't let it fade away. No more subsidizing technologies and industries...

No, I don't, but I am not the one doubting the numbers in the guardian, you are so you need to track down the "better" sources you are speaking of.

Thanks Talmus. These types of documents are good for those of us who have an interest, but are not working in the nuclear industry.

Re: Radioactive water leaks at Fukushima

John: The radiation levels you are seeking were part of my previous post. 10 hours of working in the area and the doses are high enough for radiation sickness. You want more than that? I am not in the nuclear industry and don't know that much about the details, etc. but they said 100 millisieverts p...

Re: Radioactive water leaks at Fukushima

Finally, someone else is really interested in what is going on here, the worst nuclear disaster yet! After I posted the original message and saw no response, I had pretty much given up on this group. Anyway back to the "serious" situation at Fukushima. I don't know of any "official&qu...

Radioactive water leaks at Fukushima

Hundreds of tonnes of radioactive water has leaked at Fukushima. Apparently, it's enough to prompt the event's re-classification to a serious incident. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/world/2013/08/21/japan-nuclear-leak-radioactive/2680349/ This is something very new (a couple of days), but also ...

Helen22, that's all you had to say about this? Why not post some "real" comments? Actually, it's interesting that my post was read over 3000 times and not a single person commented.
