Looking for MCNP for Dummies info

Starting to get into MCNP and I am desperately looking for some "MCNP-for-Dummies" type information. Is there such information out there? I guess there has to be some, because most people didn't know about MCNP before they knew about it, so they had to learn it somehow - if that makes sens...

Re: Nuclear Industry's attitude - Small Reactors

I hope this paragraph gives you some of the insight you are looking for. "Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are getting a lot of attention in the nuclear industry because they offer great potential for lower initial capital investment, scalability, and they come in sizes more appropriate for locati...

Yeah, something more demonstrative of scilab's abilities in the context of this forum - energy, risk, safety, etc. would have been more interesting, I agree.

Re: Datacenters - Energy Source

and the size of a large bathtub I think you may be over-simplifying this :-) the nuclear component (core) may be that size but the power plant isn't that small. Of course that was an oversimplification ;-) But, we all need to be thinking a bit outside the box, to use an old cliche, if we are going ...

Lots of developer get burned by that, when trying to use absolute *if* criteria. Very interesting reading!

Re: Datacenters - Energy Source

Indeed the Hyperion SMR is what I had in mind when I posted the original message. With ~25 MW power that can run, without replacement for 10 years and the size of a large bathtub, I thought it would be ideal for a datacenter environment.

Where did you hear the # is tied to some name? I don't think it is. Just use your name, or Santa Claus, or whatever you want and it should work.

Datacenters - Energy Source

There is a thread in the Miscellaneous forum about datacenters. http://www.triusinc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=90#p321 I was just wondering if anyone here has looked at possible application of nuclear, wind, hydro to directly power datacenters. I figured that with all the SMR discussions an...

Re: Technical Documents

If you could do that it would be great, because for some reason I can't get them. It could be some permissions thing, or something, but it's been driving me nuts, so if you can post them here as attachments it would be great!!

Re: Technical Documents

In browsing some of the other forums here (Miscellaneous), I saw a download link to a tech documents folder ( http://www.triusinc.coms/techs ). Well, taking a look at that folder, there appear to a bunch of technical documents that may be of interest to some of you! Just take a look at the folder. ...

Talmus, you are amazing!!!!! That's exactly what I was looking for. Wow! These forums provide such a wealth of information and of such great quality, I wonder why is it that only a couple of dozen of people are here! I am on a couple of other nuclear-related forums, one run by a *major* university, ...

Nuclear student enrollment ??

Sorry to be a pain, but part of the talk I will be giving in a couple of weeks will be the increase in interest in the Nuclear field and how universities and colleges are responding to it. I know, for example, that 10-15 years ago, enrollment in nuclear engineering programs was diminishing down to n...

Nuclear future: AP1000, SMR, Other?

I am giving a talk to a group of students, in a couple of weeks, about the future of Nuclear power. Lots of material out there, some proclaiming the licensing of AP1000 is the turning point, others saying the future is in SMRs, some claiming the South Africa consortium project restart (if it happens...
