Fukushime didn't stop nuclear growth

Re: Nuclear Resurgence in the US ?

Nobody said that going forward, once the licenses were OK-ed, would be easy Howard. But I don't think too many would argue that there is renewed interest in nuclear. And, not just in the US. Look at this Canadian Government decision: Canada Government Gives Go-Ahead For Four-Unit Darlington Project ...

Re: Risk perception and energy infrastructure

I think this may be what you are talking about. New Nuclear Power for Dummies http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/2603b328#/2603b328/1 It is indeed a very interesting booklet, written so that most people of all disciplines can understand it. Also, here is another "risk-type" book/paper tha...

General Article on SMRs

Interesting article written by a graduate student in the UK. I am not sure I agree with the simplistic safety analysis or the capital investment analysis. I believe both are a lot more complex than what is presented here, but it's a descent overview. http://climateanswers.info/2011/12/small-modular-...

Re: Formulas for Cylindrical Source

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I found a set of equations in an old LSU manual (it's actually a loose-leaf type manual), with fairly good explanations. I think it will provide what I need for my project.

Thanks again, everyone.

Formulas for Cylindrical Source

I am looking for a set of formulas that provide the Dose Rate at various locations from a cylindrical source. I know I can evaluate this with a number of different software products, but I am looking for the analytical formulas, for a specific project. I think that whether the source material is sel...

Thanks.

I wasn't aware that this was only for trius programs. I saw the discussions about the programming languages, etc. and thought it was a natural question. Sorry if I have offended anyone.

Re: SCILAB 5.3.3

I used matlab and then scilab for a few years. both excellent products. As far as I know, scicoslab was a competing product that was started from some people that broke off the original scilab team, because they thought scilab development was not progressing fast enough, or something (I am not sure)...

Which Fortran compiler?

I was wondering if anyone here can offer me some guidance as to a good free Fortan compiler. I understand there are quite a few out there and I have read some good comments about a bunch of them, but I was wondering. Does anyone here have any experience with any of these? If so, can you recommend on...
