Possibly wrong subject - Software Development [Moved]
I know this is not a nuclear/energy type issue, but I have a question and I hope someone here might be able to help. The company I work for is in the process of revamping some of our core software and we have been having some long arguments as to whether we should use the classic, tried-and-proven m...

Howard, at the risk of violating rules here, I have to say that you are a fool. There is no other logical explanation. Please, before you post your drivel, spend a few minutes and verify the information. Just because someone posts something on the web, it doesn't mean it is so! Here, read these and ...

Yes, depending on the source of radiation, skyshine could be an important component, particularly for long term exposures.

NCRP - Radiological Terms
Many times, we use radiological terms with an "approximate" meaning, so when I found this short document with precise explanations, I thought it would be a good thing to share.

Re: "Must-see" Pandora's promise movie!!!
HowardE, your tagline is very appropriate. You must be a very angry man ;-) I think the movie was very well done and to the point. I saw it on CNN. It would have been great if it was taken on by a major movie house and was shown in all theaters, like the old "China Syndrome" movie had been...

Re: Fukushima Material Release
I have seen dozens of "different" release estimates, some of them claiming lots more radioactive material releases than Chernobyl. Is there a source where I can find published, peer-reviewed information of the measured (or even calculated) releases?

Helen, do you have any information as to what process(es) they are using to extract Cs/Sr at Fukushima? Any documents you can point me to?

Re: 11 Facts about the real Fukushima holocaust
Good call gradphys. I hadn't looked at the web site he referenced, but now that you pointed it out, I went back and sure enough, all the conspiracies are there, presented as the truth As for Howarde's credibility, after his posts over the past couple of months, he needs to work on it, real hard!

Re: Sr-90 Biological Half Life ??
If we are talking about Sr-90 in the bones (where it will eventually end up), then the "biological" half-life is ~ 50 yrs and the "effective" half life (which is more meanigful) is ~ 18 years. Neither of them is particularly short. Have you seen any numbers as to the content of S...
