Many times, we use radiological terms with an "approximate" meaning, so when I found this short document with precise explanations, I thought it would be a good thing to share.

Very informative, thanks. I have a question about
skyshine: Radiation scattered back to Earth by the atmosphere above a radiation-producing facility.
Is that normally something one needs to worry about?

Yes, depending on the source of radiation, skyshine could be an important component, particularly for long term exposures.
