Will Arizona become the new Nevada. AZ State senator Melvin proposes to make Arizona as the place where all the nuclear plants in the country send their spent nuclear fuel rods...

I wonder if in today's economy this may start a bidding war to see which state will become the repository, create jobs, collect fees from the industry, etc.

This is a joke, right? I am not sure, but it may just be some politician being a wise guy.

I have to agree that it sounds just like political malarkey. On the other hand, we have to do "SOMETHING". We can't keep pushing the decision of what to do with spent fuel and other rad waste to the future, we'll run out of future.

The best thing would be to NOT produce any more spent fuel or additional rad waste! How would you like it if they decided to put such a facility in your state, may be 20 miles or so from *your* home?

Nuclear is the only industry that keeps producing waste, even after they admit that they don't know what to do with it for hundreds (thousands ?) of years. If it was any other industry, they would have been shut down. But, that's what big money and expensive lobbyists can do for you.

Great idea. Why don't we just give up electricity, give up automobiles, forget about fire, etc. and go back to living in the caves. Think about it, minimal impact to the environment, totally green. Wouldn't that be great? ;-)

You are quite a joker. That's typical "nuclear industry" attitude, if you can't argue the issue, make fun and belittle the other person, so I am not surprised.

Question is, do you have anything substantive to offer to this discussion? If you do, please, oblige us!
