Fukushime didn't stop nuclear growth

Post by GradPhys »

According to this recent article, Fukushima has slowed but NOT stopped nuclear industry growth.

I know there has been some licensing activity in the USA, but I don't expect to see any nukes built and come on-line any time soon. What do you think? Do you think the IAEA assessment in this article is too optimistic, or do you expect to see real growth?

Really?

Well, I think it should have stopped it, until we know more about radiation and its effects and how to manage these accidents. Why don't you take a look at these recent reports?

How about the health effects from Fusushima? http://theintelhub.com/2012/08/23/fukus ... s-lurking/
And note in this article,...

Early on atFukushima Prefecture children were suffering inexplicable nosebleeds, diarrhea, and lack of energy. And children’s death rates increased noticeably in the United States on both east and west coasts in the months after March 11, 2011 when the radiation was most intense.

Some of the most important signs of radiation are:

Nose bleeding often occurs with radiation sickness. Blood of the throat, bleeding gums or blood from the rectum are also signs that radiation has impacted the body. Bleeding bruises occur, sometimes hematemesis. The bleeding is caused by the radiation reducing the number of platelets that clot blood in the body.

Diarrhea: Burning or "hits" are common "hits" along the body’s cells that rapidly reproduce, including cells in the digestive tract. Irradiation causes irritation of the digestive organs that can cause diarrhea and sometimes bloody diarrhea.

Howard, I looked at the links you posted. Interesting, but I haven't found any scientific, peer-reviewed study with similar results. If you have any such references you wish to share with us, I'll gladly take a closer look.

elen, that's smart language for saying, "I will discount any reports that agree with my point of view". Peer reviewed reports are reviewed by peers that usually have the same opinion on a subject. That's very different than *critically* reviewed reports that are usually reviewed by those who do not agree with the author's point of view.

In anycase, you can look at it anyway you want. Fact is, Fukushima has resulted in all sorts of health effects, already. Take a look here for the increase in deaths in the US!

Howard, I want to think that you are not a troll, looking for reaction, but your posts sometimes leave me wondering. What you posted is just someone's opinion, not a "report", which means, research, analysis, validation, review, etc.

If you want to have a real discussion, let's do it with facts, not an accumulation of opinions!
