Nuclear future: AP1000, SMR, Other?

Post by GradPhys »

I am giving a talk to a group of students, in a couple of weeks, about the future of Nuclear power. Lots of material out there, some proclaiming the licensing of AP1000 is the turning point, others saying the future is in SMRs, some claiming the South Africa consortium project restart (if it happens) will be the savior of the industry and so on and so forth. I have my own beliefs, of course :) , but I was wondering if others here have any opinion on the subject.

SMRs, definitely. All the other options are re-hashed technology.
